Web Development

A site that looks right and loads slowly still loses money. We build three different kinds of website, and they are not interchangeable — the right one depends on who updates the site, whether you sell through it, and how much custom behaviour it needs. Whichever route you take, it ships with tracking that works on day one and structure search engines can read.

The build decision that matters most is not which framework to use. It is who maintains the site afterwards, and how often. A team publishing weekly needs genuine editing control, whatever a developer would prefer to build. A marketing site that changes twice a year can be hand-coded and will be measurably faster for it.

So we ask about maintenance before recommending a stack, because that is the choice that gets expensive over three years. Everything else — performance budgets set per template, clean markup, tracking that reconciles, redirects that protect the rankings you already have — we treat as the baseline rather than as extras. A site that loads slowly or loses its search visibility at launch has failed regardless of how it looks.

01

Coded Website

Custom-built, no page builder

Built from scratch in code, with none of the weight a page builder adds. The fastest of the three and the most flexible, and the right call when performance or custom functionality matters more than editing pages in-house.

02

WordPress Website

CMS-driven, you edit it

Built on WordPress so your team can change pages, publish posts and add content without a developer. The right choice when the site changes often and you want that control in-house rather than in a support queue.

03

E-Commerce / Shopify Website

Built to sell

A storefront on Shopify or WooCommerce. The gap between wanting the product and completing the purchase is where most revenue leaks, so the work concentrates on checkout flow and on getting clean purchase data back to your ad platforms.

Specialisms

Three build routes with genuinely different trade-offs. The right one depends on who maintains the site after we hand it over.

Common questions

The questions we are asked most often before an engagement starts.

The honest answer depends on who edits the site afterwards and how often. A non-technical team publishing weekly needs a real content management system, whatever a developer would prefer. A marketing site that changes twice a year can be custom-coded and will be faster for it. We ask about maintenance before recommending a stack, because the wrong answer there costs more over three years than the build ever did.

A focused marketing site is typically four to eight weeks from approved design; e-commerce and custom applications run longer. The variable that moves timelines most is content, not development — projects wait on copy, images and product data far more often than on code.

We can, and you are not obliged to use us. Either way we set up hosting properly, document it, and make sure you hold the accounts. Sites where the agency owns the hosting account and the domain are a well-known way to make leaving expensive, and we do not set them up that way.

That is a design and build constraint we set from the start rather than a hope. Performance budgets are agreed per template, and we measure against real-device field data rather than a synthetic score. Where a client insists on something genuinely costly — an autoplaying video header, a heavy third-party widget — we will quantify the cost rather than refuse, and let them decide.

It is protected deliberately or it is damaged accidentally; there is no neutral path. Before launch we map every existing URL to its destination, test the redirects on staging, and check content and metadata parity. After launch we monitor index coverage and rankings closely for several weeks. Most redesign traffic losses come from skipping exactly this.

Yes, in full, including repository access and deployment documentation. Custom work is yours on completion. Where the build uses open-source or commercial components we tell you which, and any licences you need to hold are transferred to you rather than kept in our name.
